Amazing New Trend Proves Impact Of Vaping Is Massive And Growing
In a bizarre new trend, some newlyweds are bringing their vapes into their official wedding photos
Vaping has sure come a long way from the unknown smoking cessation tool that first hit the market over ten years ago. Despite the near constant biased attacks from legislators since they became popular, the vaping community has grown into a robust group of individuals won over by the harm reduction and smoking cessation value e-cigarettes provide. With many crediting vaporizers as finally getting them off cigarettes for good, it’s no wonder why so many vapers sometimes feel a special kinship with their favorite device. But a new wedding trend has been making the rounds on the internet, as newlyweds are taking official wedding photos while blowing clouds.
While plenty of individuals on social media have blasted these couples for the move, most don’t appear to be vapers themselves. They don’t seem to understand the impact vaping has had on so many of our lives. It’s a common belief among vapers that e-cigarettes ultimately saved them years of life. They argue anyone experiencing this would also see their favorite e-cigarette as a friend and family member who should be included in the festivities. So while it’s unavoidable to receive some ridicule in the internet age, it’s a step in the right direction that so many people are passionate enough about vaping to incorporate it into the most important day of their lives.
The new wedding trend has been circulating Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook, as all types of people seem fascinated by the seemingly silly addition. As the viral sensation gains speed, we get more examples of both candid and official wedding photos which feature one or more participants vaping. At least a few couples have gone as far as taking portraits where they’re both blowing massive clouds together. Although a lot of the attention gained has been negative, it undoubtedly proves vaping is working its way into our cultural fiber in a way that can’t be easily removed. Luckily we’re getting more evidence all the time supporting the extreme harm reduction and smoking cessation value of vaporizers.
These photos have been coming in from around the world, showing vaping is indeed a global phenomenon. With smoking still killing more people every year than any other preventable cause, those who have successfully switched from smoking to vaping feel very strongly about their lifesaver. This trend has gotten so big there have even been reports of full-on vaping themed weddings and wedding planners cropping up. If you’re worried about breaking etiquette, don’t panic. There are even guides for the proper way to vape at this kind of event.
Is Vaping Good?
While social media is busy ridiculing vapers, the evidence supporting e-cigarettes is stronger than ever. We’ve known going back to 2015 that vaping is at least 95% safer than smoking thanks to Public Health England, but that wasn’t the only time. In fact, for the last several years every few months provides another critical piece of research proving the harm reduction value of vaporizers. For example, in December a report concluded vapor has 93% fewer toxicants than cigarette smoke. But the cherry on top has got to be the study which found the excess lifetime cancer risk of a vaper is around 57,000 times lower than a demographically similar smoker.
Going deeper and we have evidence which also supports the smoking cessation value of vaporizers. A report which tested all the most common quitting aids, from cold turkey through prescription drugs, concluded that not only is vaping a useful tool, but it’s actually the most likely to lead to a successful quit attempt. But perhaps most importantly, it’s vital that more people understand the teenage vaping “epidemic” has been severely overblown by the media. A study of over 60,000 students from Action on Smoking and Health concluded that only between 0.1% and 0.5% of non-smoking teenagers are ever vaping regularly.
While it is a bit silly to incorporate vaping into your wedding, for some people, this is precisely how much it means to them. There’s even plenty of couples out there who only ever met thanks to their local vape shop. The more important takeaway from this trend should be the growing acceptance among younger people that vaping has truly game-changing benefits for smokers. One of the most significant problems vaping has ever had is a lack of understanding that it’s much safer than smoking, and should be the hands-down choice between the two. If we genuinely want to end the smoking epidemic once and for all, we simply have to support vaping for its harm reduction and smoking cessation value. And hopefully, we’ll see a few more vaping wedding photos along the way.
