Sigelei 100W Review
This product has been discontinued from sales and replaced with newer models.
The Sigelei 100W is one of the hottest box mods available right now and after using it, I can see why. This is a powerhouse mod that produces massive clouds of vapor thanks to two 18650 batteries. While it’s made in China, this mod is still well worth your time. It’s not perfect, but overall it’s a good choice for the experienced vaper that wants to take things to the next level.
At first glance, the Sigelei 100W doesn’t look like anything special. It’s a no frills design – just a simple box in either silver or black. It is made from aluminum-alloy and has a maximum power output of 100W. The digital reading shows the voltage, wattage, resistance, and battery life. There are two buttons that let you power up and down and a larger dome shaped fire button. The edges on this box are only slightly rounded and it feels solid in your hand. While it’s not exactly comfortable to hold, it’s not too awkward either.
The buttons used to adjust the power settings seem sturdy, but the larger power button rattles a bit. It feels a little too clicky to me and I’m not sure if it would hold up after a lot of use. I’ve heard some vapers complain that it can stick after awhile causing the atomizer to fire at unwanted times so that’s definitely something to keep an eye on.
On the top of the Sigelei 100W, there is a basic 510 connector with a copper pin that is adjustable and reverse threaded. Personally, I think it would have been more user friendly to put in a spring-loaded pin, but it’s certainly not a deal breaker.
On the backside, magnets and two screws secure the plate. You will have to remove this plate to take out the batteries when it’s time to recharge because you can’t charge with a USB cable like some devices. For me, this is really a major problem because every single time I need to recharge my batteries, I have to go find a Phillips head screwdriver and take out the two screws. You could skip the screws and rely on the magnetic connection if your batteries fit in well, but personally, I don’t want to take that risk so I just begrudgingly find my screw diver.
How It Works
In terms of functionality, the Sigelei 100W is really great. It has exceptional battery life. I can usually get two days of use from a single charge and I tend to be a pretty heavy vaper. The maximum output is 8.5 volts and so you can technically reach 100W with a resistance as high as .72. You will be extreme vapor clouds even when you don’t max out the wattage. It’s really a matter of trial and error to find the exact setting you like, but the Sigelei gives you plenty of power to play with so hard core vapers will undoubtedly love it.
Ultimately, devices like the Sigelei 100W are not right for every vaper. These box mods are made for people that know their way around advanced vaping and are comfortable with manipulating the voltage and wattage to get really custom performance. For the new vaper, this is going to be way too overwhelming, but for someone that has been using mods for a while, it’s going to be a homerun. Despite its flaws, this is a good mod because you get a lot of power at an affordable price.
